Special Operations Group (SOG) Joint Missions
In today’s world, an act of terrorism can require an advanced approach to multi-jurisdiction and multi-discipline coordination. Incidents that require the coordinated deployment of tactical assets involving active shooters, IEDs, hazardous materials, mass casualties, or technical rescue within one of these environments, will require timely and effective coordination in an organizational structure consistent with NIMS and ICS. The Incident Commander and Operations Section Chief will need rapid, organized access to subject matter experts within specialized response teams and functions. This can be found in one consolidated location within the Special Operations Group (SOG).
Normally, the SOG will be limited to a Team Leader or Senior Supervisor from the following specialty functions:
SNS and POD Assessment Tool
Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
Hazardous Materials Unit
Fire-Rescue / Technical Rescue Unit
Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT)
Bomb Squad (EOD)
Using the SOG concept, joint downrange missions can be effectively utilized to monitor hazardous environments, provide tactical cover, render safe potential threats, provide emergency medical response, and rescue victims and/or hostages as safely as possible. O’Gara Training and Services Division is ready to assist your region with Special Operations Group (SOG) training to include seminars, drills and exercises that highlight the benefits and operational issues of implementing the SOG concept into “real world” emergency response. We have provided this training to highly populated regional areas that encompass multiple counties and have involved enhanced multi-jurisdiction and multi-discipline coordination. |
