Advanced Academy - Type I EMPI
Target Audience: During a disaster, States must be responsive to local jurisdictions and must efficiently acquire and distribute Federal resources. State disaster management is challenging, requiring that State staff members have accurate information on the Federal programs available and work with Federal counterparts in the management of those programs. This academy is intended to train personnel who have been employed in the Emergency Management field for five or more years. Applicants are proven leaders in Emergency Management. Seasoned EM Directors, Incident Management Teams, Members of Incident Command System, Command and General Staff, Emergency Management Planners and Coordinators from all disciplines that are looking at future positions as State Coordinating Officers (SCO), Operations Officers, Individual Assistance (IA) Officers, Public Assistance (PA) Officers, Hazard Mitigation Officers (HMO), Community Relations Managers, and Public Information Officers are encouraged to apply.
Prerequisites: Approval of the State Advisory Committee. Applicants have completed EMI's Advanced Professional Development Series and EMI's Professional Development Series. Applicants will have completed the (E/L449) Incident Command System, Train-the-Trainer. Applicants are encouraged to have served on a Command and General Staff position in the past five years and have completed the Type III and Type II EMPI. Consideration will be given to highly qualified and recommended applicants to fill a limited number of seats in the academy. Applicants should be prepared to complete their State certifications. Agenda is provided in advance. Applicants are encouraged to stay on campus for the entire time period. Dress is casual to rugged. Some physical exercise should be expected. Bring agency attire for graduation.
